Our Delivery Process

Moving a piano is not like moving furniture. It demands specialist knowledge, specialist equipment, and an uncompromising respect for the instrument. Here is exactly how we do it.

Consultation & Planning

We begin with a detailed consultation to understand your piano's size and weight, the destination's access conditions (stairs, doorways, lifts), and any logistical considerations. We survey the route and plan every move in advance.

Safe Packing & Loading

The piano is protected using custom-fitted quilted blankets, foam corner guards, and — for grand pianos — a purpose-built skid board that allows the instrument to be rolled, never dragged. The keyboard lid and fallboard are secured. The pedal lyre is removed and packed separately.

Professional Transport

Our dedicated piano transport vehicles are fitted with air-ride suspension, internal tie-down systems, and climate consideration for long-distance island moves. The piano travels upright (never on its back) and is attended throughout the journey.

Installation & Tuning

Once in position, the piano is carefully reassembled, levelled, and placed precisely where you want it. We allow 72 hours for the instrument to acclimatise before our technician returns to perform a full post-move tuning — included in every delivery.

We use piano-specific trolleys, skid boards, and lifting harnesses. No improvised furniture dollies, no moving straps over the finish.

Experienced Team Only

Our delivery team handles pianos exclusively. They are not general movers reassigned for the day — they know the weight distribution of a concert grand and the fragility of a vintage cabinet.

Full Transit Insurance

Every piano we move is insured at its full replacement value for the duration of transit and installation. In the unlikely event of damage, you are fully covered.

Post-Delivery Tuning Included

Movement causes detuning. We return 72 hours after delivery to perform a complimentary full tuning — ensuring your piano sounds perfect in its new home.

Delivery FAQ

We recommend booking at least 5 to 7 working days in advance for deliveries within the Western Province, and 10 to 14 days for other provinces. This allows us to survey the destination if needed, arrange the appropriate vehicle size, and assign the right team for your specific instrument. For urgent deliveries, contact us directly — we will do our best to accommodate.
Yes, in most cases. Grand pianos can be moved upstairs using a combination of our specialist stair-climbing equipment, a piano dolly, and an experienced team. For upper floors without lift access, we will assess the staircase width, ceiling height, and landing area during our pre-delivery survey. In rare cases where access is genuinely impossible, we will advise you honestly before confirming the delivery.
Yes. Every piano we move is insured at its full replacement value from the moment it leaves our premises (or your home, for moves between locations) to the moment it is installed and signed off. In the highly unlikely event of transit damage, we handle the claim process on your behalf. We will not ask you to deal with insurers alone.
Yes. If you are replacing an existing piano with a new one from our collection, we can remove and responsibly dispose of the old instrument as part of the delivery service. We assess each piano before disposal — instruments that can be restored or donated are never simply discarded. Contact us to discuss the specifics of your situation.
